About this file
Summary
This document is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) guide for Group 01800 – Road Salt and Treated Salt (Types 1 & 2), a New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Centralized Statewide Contract. The contract involves the NYS OGS as the administering agency and multiple awarded contractors providing salt to eligible state and local entities across New York counties.
The contract covers three salt product types: regular Road Salt, Treated Salt Type 1, and Treated Salt Type 2. Entities that filed requirements during the designated period are listed by county in the Delivery Schedule attachment, with each salt type maintaining separate tabs in the Excel workbook. Pricing varies by county and salt type, with specific per-ton rates and contractor contact information available in the Pricing attachment. The contract term runs annually from September 1 to August 31. Entities have minimum purchase obligations that, if unmet by contract end, result in contractor storage fees. Entities may purchase from alternative contractors but remain obligated to fulfill minimum commitments with their assigned contractor by August 31. Contaminated or visibly wet salt loads may be rejected at delivery. Entities filing for incorrect salt types or seeking mid-term additions to the contract must contact the NYS OGS Contract Manager for approval from the assigned contractor.
