About this file
The document is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document for Group 01800, a New York State Office of General Services (NYS OGS) Centralized Contract for Road Salt, Treated Salt, and Emergency Standby Road Salt. The contract covers statewide procurement of different salt types, including regular Road Salt, Treated Salt Type 1, and Treated Salt Type 2, and is designed to help local entities understand the contract's requirements, ordering process, and key terms.
The contract runs annually from September 1 to August 31, with entities required to file for their salt requirements through a specific process. Contractors are awarded by county and salt type, with pricing and delivery details specified in separate Excel workbook attachments. Entities have minimum purchase obligations and can potentially purchase from alternative contractors, but must still fulfill their committed tonnage with the awarded contractor by the end of the contract term. The contract allows for flexibility in salt type and contractor selection, with provisions for addressing issues like wet or contaminated salt loads, and potential additions to the contract after the initial term with contractor approval.
