About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the NIST Boulder Building 2, Room 1330 Fume Hood Replacement project, issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Office of Facilities and Property Management. The project involves removing and replacing an existing tabletop fume hood and rooftop-mounted exhaust fan installed in 1992 at the NIST Boulder Campus located at 325 Broadway in Boulder, Colorado. The replacement is necessary to accommodate new research utilizing larger equipment and toxic gases that the existing hood cannot safely contain. The period of performance is six months from the date of award, with work conducted during regular business hours at the NIST Boulder Campus.
The SOW outlines comprehensive demolition and new construction tasks including: removal of countertops, sinks, cabinetry, existing fume hood, ductwork, and rooftop exhaust fan; architectural finishes including wall patching, painting, flooring repair, and vinyl base installation; mechanical installation of a new walk-in fume hood and rooftop-mounted hazardous exhaust fan with stack supports; plumbing reconnection for sink and eyewash station; electrical work including new circuits, cable tray installation, lightning protection connections, and bonding of equipment; and installation of a fire alarm panic system integrated with the building fire alarm panel. The contractor must provide ASHRAE 110 performance testing of the completed hood and exhaust system, submit a preliminary construction schedule with specified milestones, coordinate weekly in-person meetings with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), and obtain NIST approvals for all submittals with 10 business days allowed for each review period. Additional compliance requirements include adherence to NIST Boulder General Contractor Requirements, security protocols, HSPD-12 requirements, and site-specific safety and health assessments as detailed in referenced attachments.

II. PURPOSE
This project is for the Applied Chemicals and Materials Division. Building 2 Lab 1330 has an existing tabletop fume hood and associated rooftop exhaust fan installed in 1992 that has reached the end of its intended service. New research will be taking place in the lab that will utilize larger equipment that utilize toxic gases. The existing hood is not large enough the new research equipment being performed within the lab.
This project will be removing and replacing existing counter tops, plumbing, sinks, and reworking existing electrical wiremold, conduits junction boxes, and electrical wiring to accommodate the removal and replacement of the existing fume hood, ductwork and rooftop mounted exhaust fan.
The Contractor shall coordinate with the Government Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) all activities required throughout the duration of this task order. The Contractor shall communicate with the COR and the CO on all matters pertaining to the task order.
