About this file
This document is an Addendum #2 for the DOC FDCF Fiber Optic Cabling project issued by the Iowa Department of Administrative Services (DAS) for solicitation #005-RFB-0162-2022. The addendum updates critical procurement details, including rescheduling the bid submission deadline to Monday, October 17, 2022, at 10:00am Central Time, with bids to be submitted through the Iowa IMPACS Electronic Procurement System. A second site visit is scheduled for Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 10:00am CST, and bidders are required to submit any questions by 10:00am Central Time on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
The document also includes a comprehensive list of questions and answers from a previous site visit, addressing technical details about the fiber optic cabling project. Key clarifications include confirmation that existing conduits with pull strings are likely in place, requirements for concrete handholes with security screws, expectations for fiber run configurations, and specifications for interior fiber pathway installation. The facility indicates that new fiber termination panels will be required, existing fiber will remain in place for legacy systems, and material procurement lead times may impact project completion. The project allows for on-site storage using a job box or trailer and mandates that all fiber must be concealed either in conduit or properly supported above drop ceilings, except in mechanical rooms.

BID QUESTIONS
Questions for the referenced solicitation are now due no later 10:00am, Central Time on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
QUESTIONS RECEIVED FROM PREVIOUS SITE VISIT:
1. Is boring needed for pathway between each building? To the best of our knowledge, conduits are already installed with pull strings.
2. If boring is needed what type of handhole is needed? Does it need to be a concrete enclosed handhole or will a fiberglass handhole be sufficient? If needed, we would require concrete handholes with security screws.
3. Looking at the fiber runs on the drawing provided, are these all a homerun back to a central location in one of the administrative buildings or will these be daisy chained together? Our current fiber is daisy chained around campus. We could encourage Bider to provide direction for best practice for the facility needs and redundancy.
4. Are there existing racks that will house all the new fiber? Or will the contract need to provide and install racks for this project? This contract would require new fiber termination panels installed by the Bider for the new fiber. We plan to keep existing fiber in place and will continue to be used for some of our legacy systems.
5. With material procurement leads time out multiple weeks that could push the completion date out past December, will the contractor be held responsible? No
6. Is there space at the existing facility for storage or a location to have a storage container or trailer? Yes, we encourage the use of a job box or trailer to house tools and material.
7. Is inneduct required for any interior pathways or can the fiber be supported using j-hooks? Or will conduit be required? The facility has not identified an available interior pathway within buildings, All fiber must be concealed, either in conduit or properly supported above drop ceilings where available, other than in the mechanical rooms. All in ground piping would not require inneduct.
