About this file
This is Addendum No. 1 to a Request for Competitive Quotes (RFCQ) issued by the Oregon Department of Transportation for tree trimming and vegetation management services along US Highway 395 near Canyon City. The addendum, dated April 15, 2026, modifies the original RFCQ (No. S-73000-00016451) by deleting and replacing Exhibit 3 Specifications in their entirety. The revised specifications detail work scope requirements including removal of all dead or visibly dying trees, all trees with diameter at breast height equal to or less than six inches, and all limbs and brush within the designated work area limits. Tree canopy trimming must be completed within working limits of 35 feet vertical clearance and 30 feet horizontal distance from the edge of pavement, except where restricted by Canyon Creek limits or right-of-way boundaries. The contractor must cut trees to the trunk according to accepted industry standards for pruning, maintain an eight-foot riparian buffer on Canyon Creek, and ensure clearing limits remain uniform along cut lines and through transitions. The work must not extend to trees outside ODOT right-of-way, and clearing limits may be modified only if they remain no less than 30 feet from the edge of pavement unless in conflict with right-of-way limits and fence lines or as otherwise directed by ODOT.
The addendum emphasizes compliance with revised clearing specifications and establishes that all bidders must be responsive to the addendum requirements as if they were set forth in the original RFCQ document. Key changes to the specifications include clarification that tree canopy trimming may require cutting outside the horizontal distance specified to meet accepted industry pruning standards, and reinforcement of the eight-foot riparian buffer requirement along Canyon Creek. The submission deadline and all other terms of the original RFCQ remain in effect, with quote submissions directed through OregonBuys. Contact information is provided for the buyer, Dave Dethloff, at William.d.dethloff@odot.oregon.gov or 503-569-8793 for any questions regarding the addendum or specifications.
