UNSPSC 49101601: Antiques

UNSPSC 49101601 Antiques is a Commodity code encompassing the acquisition of historical artifacts, vintage furnishings, decorative objects, and other period pieces for use in state and local government facilities. State and local governments procure antiques primarily for museum collections, historic site operations, and public building restoration and furnishings — work that falls under cultural heritage, historical preservation, and facility enhancement mandates. Issuing bodies include state historical societies, state museums, local history museums, county historical commissions, city parks and recreation departments, and special-purpose historic preservation districts. School districts and transit authorities occasionally source antiques for educational exhibits or heritage-themed facilities, though this remains a niche activity within the code's scope.
