NIGP 64118: Boxes and Retention Packaging (Not Otherwise Classified), Environmentally Certified Products

NIGP 64118 Boxes and Retention Packaging (Not Otherwise Classified), Environmentally Certified Products is an Item code covering packaging materials that meet environmental certification standards and do not fit into more specific packaging classifications. State and local governments procure under this code when they need corrugated boxes, shipping containers, or retention packaging manufactured to environmental specifications — typically recycled-content cardboard, compostable materials, or packaging certified by third-party environmental programs. Issuing bodies include state departments, municipalities, county facilities management offices, and school districts seeking to meet sustainability mandates or environmental procurement policies. The code serves as a catch-all for environmentally certified packaging that falls outside dedicated classifications for specialized containers or single-material product lines.

The source material provided contains no recent state or local contract opportunities under this code, and therefore does not support characterization of geographic concentration, representative solicitations, or repeat-buyer patterns. Without posted RFP, RFQ, IFB, or ITB activity in the procurement record, the current market visibility under NIGP 64118 cannot be determined.
