NIGP 54523: Impact Tools, Air Powered (Not Road Building)

NIGP 54523 Impact Tools, Air Powered (Not Road Building) is an Item code that covers pneumatic hand and impact tools used by state and local government maintenance, operations, and utility workforces. The source records show minimal recent procurement activity under this code. Recent opportunities instead reflect demand for specialized electrical and law enforcement equipment that falls outside the scope of air-powered impact tools — Lubbock Power & Light's RFP for outdoor vacuum circuit breakers and Sourcewell's cooperative purchasing vehicle for law enforcement equipment do not align with the NIGP 54523 taxonomy. State and local purchasing offices across the country do acquire pneumatic impact tools (chisels, hammers, drills, grinders, impact wrenches) for fleet maintenance, public works departments, and facility operations, but the available recent-opportunities block does not contain solicitations that directly illustrate current demand under this specific Item code.

No recent state and local solicitations for air-powered impact tools are present in the source material. Without posted RFPs, RFQs, ITBs, or IFBs naming this code, the geographic distribution of current activity and the mix of issuing bodies cannot be determined from the records available. Firms pursuing this code should monitor cooperative purchasing portals such as Sourcewell and regional cooperative purchasing entities for tool and equipment procurements, as well as watch for public works, maintenance, and facilities management solicitations from county and municipal governments that commonly acquire pneumatic tools for operational use.
