NIGP 02059: Land Levelers

NIGP 02059 Land Levelers, an Item code, does not reflect the actual procurement activity appearing in recent state and local contract opportunities. The code name and abstract commodity description — land levelers as earthmoving equipment — do not align with what state and local governments are buying. Recent opportunities filed under or near this code span law enforcement equipment (Sourcewell cooperative RFP on behalf of multiple Washington counties and other participating entities), school food procurement (Butts County School System IFB for nutrition program supplies across six school locations), real property sales (Liberty Hill Independent School District IFB for 35 acres of land), and administrative relocation notices (Williamson County Purchasing Department move announcement). None of these solicitations involve land leveling equipment or grading machinery. The issuing bodies include school districts, counties, special districts, and cooperative purchasing vehicles; the geographic spread includes Texas, Washington, Georgia, and Minnesota.

The mismatch between the NIGP code designation and actual procurement content signals either data classification error or obsolete code assignment in the source system. No active solicitations for land levelers, grading equipment, or related earthmoving machinery appear in the recent opportunity block. If your firm competes in land preparation equipment, heavy earthmoving machinery, or agricultural/construction grading services, this code as currently tagged is not a reliable filter for relevant state and local opportunities. Verify code assignments in your target procurement systems and consider whether direct searches on equipment type, commodity keywords, or issuing-body names would yield more actionable results.
