Description
Airborne research test systems (ARTS) hardware and software support. The contractor may be required to design, manufacture/code, test, deliver, document, and support flight control systems (ARTS) hardware and software required to meet NASA requirements. The tasks will focus on the development of capabilities to support NASA S aircraft flight research programs. Task orders will be written for specific work. Task descriptions below will provide general guidance on the types of tasks expected under this contract. The contractor shall provide hardware engineering and development services to support NASA flight research and technology demonstrations. Wherever possible, existing designs, documentation, and test equipment should be leveraged to reduce costs and development time. The types of services to be requested may include: develop flight control hardware requirements through interaction with multiple NASA centers and associated contractors. Conduct preliminary and detailed design of a system to meet the approved requirements. Produce documentation of the design sufficient to meet NASA hardware documentation standards. Examples include hardware development plan, ICD S, prime item development specification, configuration management plan, test reports, etc. Manufacture and deliver ARTS/flight control system(S) and associated test equipment, such as hardware in the loop simulation. Environmentally test the ARTS/flight control systems(S) for compliance with temperature, vibration, and pressure environment requirements. Perform qualification testing of the ARTS/flight control system(S). Participate in design and safety reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR, test readiness reviews, flight readiness reviews). The contractor shall provide software engineering and development services to support NASA flight research and technology demonstrations. The contractor shall leverage wherever possible existing software code, documentation, and test systems to reduce costs and development time. The types of services to be requested may include: develop flight control software requirements through interaction with multiple NASA centers and associated contractors. Conduct preliminary and detailed software design to meet the approved requirements. Produce documentation of the design sufficient to meet NASA software documentation standards (examples include software development plan, software and interface design spec, system test plan and description document, version description document, software verification and validation plan, test reports, problem reports, user's manuals, test procedures, technical performance metrics report, etc.). Develop software code meeting the requirements of the approved design and in accordance with the designated software classification. Integrate and test modules delivered by NASA and validate their operations through check cases provided by NASA. Perform module testing and/or verification and validation testing of the ARTS/flight control system(S). Develop software required for testing of the ARTS/flight control system hardware and software systems. Develop software for emulating ARTS/flight control system operation within an integrated simulation environment. Deliver a portable test computer (PTC) to support testing, installing and downloading data from operation flight program (OFP) executing on the ARTS III. This PTC will support both lab and tarmac operations at the aircraft. Participate in design and safety meetings and reviews held at wvhtc, NASA centers, contractor sites, or by telecon (e.g. code reviews, PDR, CDR, test readiness reviews, flight readiness reviews, IPT telecoms, etc.). The contractor shall provide flight operations support of the ARTS/flight control system(S) at NASA dryden flight research center or remote operations sites. The types of services may include: preflight and post-flight testing, troubleshooting, software installation, and data downloading of the ARTS/flight contro
