About this IDV
The Defense Human Resources Activity, a defense agency, awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) contract to ABM Federal Sales, Inc., a small business IT solutions provider. The $5.5 million single-award BPA aims to streamline the government's acquisition of commercial items by eliminating repetitive individual orders and reducing administrative costs. Through this contract, ABM Federal Sales, Inc. is providing a variety of assistive computer equipment, supplies, and technology to support the agency's Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP). The task orders issued under the BPA range from $600 to over $125,000 and cover items such as height-adjustable workstations, assistive communication devices, and computer peripherals. The contract is a firm-fixed-price arrangement with a period of performance from May 2012 through August 2016, and the place of performance is primarily in Rosslyn, Virginia.
This BPA aligns with the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act's goal of reducing administrative overhead and costs associated with commercial item procurements. By consolidating requirements under a single contract vehicle, the Defense Human Resources Activity can efficiently fulfill its mission to provide assistive technology and workplace accommodations to support individuals with disabilities within the Department of Defense.
Description
In the spirit of the federal acquisition streamlining act, tricare management activity and contractor, ABM federal enters into a cooperative agreement to further reduce the administrative costs of acquiring commercial items. The blanket purchase agreement s (BPA) eliminate contracting and open market costs such as: search for sources; the development of technical documents, solicitations and the evaluation of bids and offers. Teaming arrangements are permitted with contractors in accordance with federal acquisition regulation (far) part 9.6. This BPA will further decrease costs, reduce paperwork and save time by eliminating the need for repetitive, individual purchase from the schedule contract. The end result is to create a purchasing mechanism for the government that works better and costs less.
