The National Cemetery Administration, through the Veterans Legacy Grants Program (CFDA 64.204), awarded a $223,458 project grant to the West Virginia Humanities Council Inc. on June 6, 2024. The purpose of this grant is to facilitate the work of high school students from Grafton High School and University High in Morgantown, as well as a team of West Virginia University graduate students, to compose biographies of veterans interred at Grafton and West Virginia National Cemeteries. The students will produce a dual set of digital and traveling exhibits focusing on the European and Pacific Theaters of World War II. This project aims to promote educational outreach and community engagement around veterans' histories and experiences.
