About this award

The Reinvestment Fund, Inc. was awarded a $20 million Project Grant from the US Department of Agriculture Rural Housing Service on March 1, 2022 through the Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) federal grant program (CFDA #10.872). The grant is intended to improve access to healthy foods in underserved areas of Pennsylvania through March 1, 2024 by creating and preserving quality jobs and revitalizing low-income communities. Specifically, the funding will support The Reinvestment Fund's efforts to finance grocery stores, farmers markets, corner stores, and other healthy food retailers in areas underserved by existing supermarkets and fresh food retailers. By increasing access to nutritious options in food deserts, the project aims to help more Pennsylvanians meet dietary needs and support local economic development.
