STAND DOWN GRANTEES PARTNER WITH FEDERAL, STATE, TRIBAL, AND LOCAL ENTITIES LOCAL BUSINESSES AND VETERAN, COMMUNITY, SOCIAL, AND FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS TO HOLD EVENTS FOR HOMELESS VETERANS. THE CRITICAL SERVICES PROVIDED AT A SD EVENT ARE OFTENTHE CATALYSTS THAT ENABLE HOMELESS VETERANS TO REENTER THE WORKFORCE.CONNECT VETERANS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS WITH SUPPLIES AND CONNECTIONS TO OTHER AGENCIES PROVIDING SERVICES TO THE POPULATION. STAND DOWNS ARE TYPICALLY ONE- TO THREE-DAY EVENTS PROVIDING SUPPLIES AND SERVICES TO HOMELESS VETERANS, SUCH AS FOOD, SHELTER, CLOTHING, HEALTH SCREENINGS AND VA SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS COUNSELING. VETERANS CAN ALSO RECEIVE REFERRALS TO OTHER ASSISTANCE SUCH AS HEALTH CARE, HOUSING SOLUTIONS, EMPLOYMENT, SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT AND MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING.
