The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics Law Enforcement (INL) awarded a $1,767,726 Cooperative Agreement under the Criminal Justice Systems Federal Grant Program (CFDA 19.703) to International Justice Mission (IJM), a global non-profit organization. The award, effective July 19, 2024 through July 18, 2027, aims to increase real and perceived access to justice for women and vulnerable groups exposed to gender-based violence in El Salvador.
Through this Cooperative Agreement, IJM will engage in a range of activities to combat human trafficking, strengthen justice systems, and improve victim identification and assistance. This includes developing protocols for investigating labor and cyber-enabled trafficking, training law enforcement and prosecutors, and applying assessment models to inform survivor care. IJM will also implement sub-awards to expand child protection initiatives and improve criminal justice responses to commercial sexual exploitation of children in Kenya, as well as efforts to disrupt human trafficking in cyber scam operations in Southeast Asia and protect Ukrainian refugees from trafficking.
