TO MAINTAIN A COMPREHENSIVE NETWORK COOPERATIVE STUDY UNITS AS WILL PROVIDE FULL GEOGRAPHIC AND TOPICAL COVERAGE FOR RESEARCH, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE RESOURCES CONTAINED IN UNITS OF THE NATIONAL PARK SYSTEM AND THEIR LARGER REGIONS.A. THE GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS TO COMPLETE A DETAILED SURVEY FOR MEXICAN SPOTTED OWLS (A FEDERALLY-ENDANGERED SPECIES) THAT MAY OCCUPY PORTIONS OF THE VALLES CALDERA NATIONAL PRESERVE. AS PART OF THE MEXICAN SPOTTED OWL SURVEY, THE PROJECT WILL COLLECT DATA ON ALL THE OTHER SPECIES OF OWLS ON THE PRESERVE.
