PURPOSE OF AWARD (SUMMARY OF THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT):THE PURPOSE OF THIS AWARD: WILL INVOLVE WORK ON THE PARK BOARDWALKS, REPAIRS TO A BRIDGE, INSTALLATION OF STEPS AND MINOR TRAIL MAINTENANCE AT FLORISSANT FOSSIL BEDS NATIONAL MONUMENT.SUMMARY OF PROJECT SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES:THE PROJECT WORK WILL REPLACE APPROXIMATELY 4 BOARDWALKS, REPLACE HANDRAILS, BOARDS ON THE WALKWAY AND HELP BUILD STEPS UP TO A NEW LOOKOUT POINT IN THE PARK. THE CREWS WILL ALSO HELP WORK ON TRAIL MAINTENANCE IN THESE AREAS TO REHABILITATE THE AREAS.PERFORMANCE GOALS INCLUDING MILESTONES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES:THE GOALS OF THIS PROJECT INCLUDE ASSISTING WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF 4 BOARDWALKS PARKWIDE, REPAIRS TO A BRIDGE, STEPS GOING TO A LOOKOUT VANTAGE POINT IN THE PARK AND SOME MINOR TRAIL MAINTENANCE. THE PROJECT WILL INCLUDE THE CREW MENTORING, CAREER EXPLORATION IN THE OUTDOORS, ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDING HIKING.BENEFICIARIES:THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE MEANINGFUL LIFE AND WORK EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING; LAND AND RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP EDUCATION AND APPRECIATION; TECHNICAL, SAFETY AND TEAMBUILDING OPPORTUNITIES TO YOUNG ADULTS.
