About this award
The California Workforce Development Board received a $4,000,000 Cooperative Agreement award from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Employment and Training Administration under the Reentry Employment Opportunities (CFDA 17.270) program. The project aims to integrate the Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) pre-apprenticeship training into federal correctional facilities' career and technical education offerings, and provide warm handoff wraparound services to assist individuals transitioning from federal prison into employment. Key activities include partnering with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the California State Building Trades Council, North America's Building Trades Unions, and community-based organizations to deliver these services at up to 25 locations across California over the 4-year grant period from September 2023 to September 2027. The expected outcomes include incarcerated individuals receiving MC3 certifications and soft skills training, as well as formerly incarcerated individuals receiving comprehensive reentry support to aid their transition to employment.
