Work is performed at the Boiler Plant (Building 20), 2094 Albany Post Road, Montrose, New York 10548-1454. The scope encompasses replacement in kind of the Webster model HDSXC-105C-9V-750 burner damaged by fireside explosion, all existing burner fuel train field devices (gas and oil) downstream of isolation valves, burner atomization field devices, and the burner air intake manifold with associated ductwork, fittings, filters, and alarms. Additional work includes replacement of damaged refractory in the boiler throat, re-piping the atomizing train to VA Standard Detail SD235239-04, installing a new propane header system sized for all four boilers in the plant (including a 200-gallon propane tank and 250 feet of 1-inch black iron piping), replacing the oxygen sensor, cleaning internal tubes via hydroblasting or mechanical means, and repainting the boiler exterior.
The boiler is a Victory Energy D-type water-tube unit rated at 30,000 lb/hr steam (37.5 MMBtu/h input), originally installed in 2011 with 2019 MicroMod parallel positioning combustion controls. The existing Fireye flame safeguard system (YB110 with YZ300 annunciation module and 45UV5 scanner) was original to the 2011 installation. All work must comply with VA specifications, the VA Design Manual, and the VHA Boiler and Associated Plant Safety Device Testing Manual (Eighth Edition).
