Description
(critical function) three distinct discretionary grant programs compose arts in education in the office of innovation and improvement; arts in education model development and dissemination (aemdd), arts education national program (aenp) and professional development for arts educators (pdae). The purpose aemdd is to further develop models that effectively strengthen and integrate arts in elementary and middle school core academic curriculum. The purpose of the aenp is to support national-level high-quality arts education activities and services for children and youth, with special emphasis on serving children from low-income families and children with disabilities. The professional development for arts educators program (pdae) program helps school systems build the capacity for teaching in and through the arts by supporting the implementation of high-quality professional development model programs for k-12 educators and other instructional staff who teach music, dance, drama, media, visual arts and folk arts in high-poverty schools.
