About Region 18 Education Service Center
Region 18 Education Service Center (ESC18) is a public entity registered to receive federal grant awards since 2004. As one of 20 regional education service centers in Texas, ESC18 provides a wide range of educational support services to school districts and charter schools in the Permian Basin area. Through federal grant awards, ESC18 primarily offers technical assistance, professional development, and program implementation support to local education agencies (LEAs) to improve student outcomes and meet federal and state education requirements. ESC18 frequently partners with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to deliver specialized educational programs and services across the state.
ESC18 has received numerous prime and sub federal grant awards to provide services in areas such as English language acquisition, migrant education, career and technical education, special education, school improvement, homeless student support, and instructional leadership. Notable programs include implementing the "Middle School Collaborative Language Acquisition Strategies for Success" initiative through an $8.7 million Education Innovation and Research grant, and the "Supporting Pathways to Achieve Rewards and Knowledge" project under the Teacher and School Leader Incentive Grants program. As a sub-grantee, ESC18 has assisted TEA in delivering services for Title I, Title III, IDEA-B, Perkins CTE, and various ESSA programs. These grants have enabled ESC18 to provide targeted professional development, curriculum support, data analysis, compliance assistance, and resource dissemination to LEAs. The center has also played a key role in supporting COVID-19 recovery efforts and implementing statewide initiatives like Texas Instructional Leadership and high-impact tutoring programs.
