About the company
Eastern Connecticut Conservation District, Inc. (ECCD) is an environmental non-profit organization that has provided conservation services in Connecticut since 1946. ECCD works with public and private partners on projects that protect land and water resources, including Long Island Sound.
Through subawards from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, ECCD has completed projects to reduce nitrogen pollution and stormwater runoff impacting Long Island Sound. This includes manure management systems at dairy farms, rain gardens and riparian buffers along coastal waterways, and green infrastructure improvements at a coastal condominium complex. ECCD has also received subawards to develop an engineered fishway plan for the Shewville Dam on the migratory alewife corridor in Ledyard. These projects engage community members through workshops, create habitat for native wildlife, and prevent pollution from degrading downstream waters. The funding supports ECCD's mission to implement conservation practices that safeguard natural resources in Connecticut.
