About Conservation NW
Conservation NW is a non-profit organization that works to protect and restore the natural heritage of the Pacific Northwest by connecting large landscapes, protecting vulnerable wildlife, and advocating for the conservation of wildlands. Through prime federal contracts, Conservation NW has provided services such as the capture, care, delivery, and radio locating of wild fishers being reintroduced to Washington state for the Department of Interior's National Park Service. It has also provided fisher trapping and veterinary services associated with restoration of endangered species at the North Cascades National Park Complex for the National Park Service.
As a subrecipient of federal grants, Conservation NW has helped pilot virtual fence technology to control cattle grazing and improve habitat connectivity for mule deer, sharp-tailed grouse, greater sage-grouse, and pronghorn in the shrub-steppe region of Washington. This was done through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Conservation NW has also conducted habitat restoration and community outreach to facilitate recovery of Canada lynx, mule deer and sharp-tailed grouse populations in the Cascade and Kettle mountain ranges of Washington, while developing safe highway passage for mule deer. These efforts were also supported through subawards from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
