About Chagrin River Watershed Partners, Inc.

Chagrin River Watershed Partners, Inc. (CRWP) is a non-profit organization formed in 1996 by 16 cities, villages, townships, counties, and park districts to address concerns about flooding, erosion, and water quality problems. As a non-profit, CRWP provides technical assistance and support for environmental conservation efforts in the Chagrin River watershed.

Through prime federal grants from the USDA Forest Service, CRWP has implemented community tree planting projects to reduce stormwater runoff in the Chagrin and Cuyahoga River watersheds. These projects were funded through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative with total awards of $377,283.59. As a subrecipient under grants from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Office of Coastal Management, CRWP has provided technical guidance on implementing best practices to control nonpoint source pollution related to local roads, highways, and bridges in the Lake Erie watershed. This work aligns with Ohio's Coastal Nonpoint Pollution Control Program strategy. CRWP has also partnered with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to assess potential future projects involving stream and wetlands restoration, stream daylighting, and riparian buffer creation aimed at improving habitat and reducing flood risks.
