About California Medical Association
The California Medical Association (CMA) is a professional association representing more than 50,000 California physicians in all medical specialties and modes of practice. Founded in 1856, CMA's mission is to promote the science and art of medicine, the care and well-being of patients, the protection of public health, and the betterment of the medical profession. CMA is a non-profit organization registered to receive federal grants and contracts.
CMA has received several federal grant sub-awards to provide technical assistance and training services related to healthcare quality improvement, health IT, data utilization, and cultural competency. For the Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN), CMA provided onsite or remote process improvement assistance to up to 32 participating health centers to support leveraging health IT and data for high-quality, culturally competent, and comprehensive primary care, with a focus on clinical quality, patient-centered care, and provider well-being. The prime grantee was the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County. Additionally, CMA provided technical assistance to up to 47 HCCN health centers on enhancing patient and provider experience, interoperability, and using data to enhance value, again with the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County as the prime grantee. CMA also received a grant from the California Department of Public Health to host monthly training events focused on crucial healthcare conversations related to events like back-to-school, flu vaccination, and holiday gatherings, with a fee of $3,300 per event for planning, materials, delivery, and follow-up.
