About Quadrus Corporation
Quadrus Corporation, an SBA-certified HUBZone firm and minority-owned, Hispanic American-owned small disadvantaged business headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, operates its Quadrus Advanced Manufacturing Division as a prime contractor (97% of recent awards) specializing in advanced manufacturing R&D, additive manufacturing technologies, materials science, and propulsion systems engineering for federal aerospace and defense agencies under total small business set-asides.
The division's customer base concentrates heavily on defense and space research agencies. The top five customers account for 97% of awards: the Missile Defense Agency leads by potential value with 9 awards worth $12.3 million combined, while NASA Shared Services Center leads by award count with 23 awards worth $6.3 million combined. The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and the Department of the Navy Strategic Systems Programs round out the active set. The divergence between the two rankings reflects Quadrus's portfolio of smaller Phase I SBIR awards through NASA (averaging $150 thousand per award) anchored by higher-value Phase II and STTR Phase II efforts through the Missile Defense Agency (ranging from $1.5 million to $2 million). All awards in the source carry total small business set-aside designations; the vendor does not compete in full-and-open procurements.
Recent representative work spans advanced propulsion, materials, and thermal systems. A $2 million Missile Defense Agency Phase II SBIR direct-to-Phase II award (March 2026) targets additive manufacturing for a low-cost Digital Access Control System architecture, running through March 2028. A $1 million Defense Logistics Agency Phase II SBIR award (April 2026) advances Scalmalloy use as a magnesium alloy casting replacement, completing November 2027. A $1.96 million Missile Defense Agency Phase II SBIR (August 2025) focuses on additive manufacturing for DACS architecture. A $850 thousand NASA Phase II SBIR (July 2025) validates a novel rotating detonation rocket engine nozzle optimization approach. A $320 thousand NASA Phase III SBIR (September 2025) develops the Frozen Return of Samples to Earth (FROSTE) containment and sealing system. Quadrus also holds multiple Phase I SBIR and STTR Phase I awards, including a $150 thousand NASA award for optimized rotating detonation rocket engine development and a $150 thousand STTR Phase I for extreme-temperature RDRE research. Completed work includes a $999.9 thousand NASA STTR Phase II for an additively manufactured, leak-proof nitrogen tetroxide swivel and a $1.24 million DARPA Phase II SBIR on selective laser melting of rhenium for propulsion applications.
Activity has remained steady at two to five awards annually from 2022 through 2025, with five awards in 2025 and two in 2026 year to date. Five awards with combined potential value of $6.1 million face ultimate completion within the next twenty-four months and will cycle through recompete. The division maintains minimal subcontract exposure, with one sub award (a test operations and sustainment sub to Beyond New Horizons, LLC, January 2025) representing 3% of the recent portfolio. NAICS concentration aligns squarely with the award pattern: 36 of 38 awards fall under Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences, with dominant PSC codes covering space R&D services, general science and technology R&D, and national defense experimental development. Quadrus Advanced Manufacturing's capability footprint centers on additive manufacturing process development, advanced propulsion system design, thermal control engineering, specialized alloy manufacturing, and materials science for mission-critical aerospace and defense applications.
SBA capabilities narrative
Our mission is to be an industry leader in the development and application of metal additive manufacturing (AM) in propulsion and aerospace technologies. We have experience in laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF) for a wide range of materials (see below). Our capabilities extend past development of established and novel materials in the AM industry and advance into mechanical design for previously unexplored concepts due to limitations of traditional manufacturing. Our team designs the most optimal path forward by combining our expertise in AM and traditional manufacturing, thereby reducing time, cost, and material for each project. Additionally, our team has a well-established history with design, analysis (i.e., FEA, CFD, etc.), and testing of propulsion hardware systems (i.e., nozzles, injectors, combustion chambers, etc.).
