Grants to Tribes, Tribal Organizations and Migrant Programs for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention Programs
Forecast - Title II of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act authorizes the Secretary to reserve one percent of the amount appropriated for the fiscal year to make allotments to Indian tribes and tribal organizations and migrant programs for community and faith-based child abuse prevention activities. The primary purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to award grants to support community-based efforts in tribal and migrant communities that prevent child maltreatment and to strengthen and support families. Funded projects will develop new or enhance existing initiatives, programs, and activities to reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect and to enhance the well-being of migrant and/or Native American children and their families, including those in rural areas. While not an exhaustive list, some examples of programs that may be funded include voluntary home visiting, respite care, parenting education, family resource centers, and finance the start-up, maintenance, expansion, or redesign of mental health services, substance abuse service programs, and other family support services. It is anticipated that three grants will be funded under this announcement. The funding period will be for 5 years.

National Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention
The National Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention is a cooperative agreement opportunity from the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families. The purpose is to establish a national resource center that will provide training and technical assistance to Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) recipients, including states, tribes, tribal organizations, and migrant programs. The key focus areas are enhancing CBCAP recipient capacity, increasing awareness of technical assistance, fostering collaboration, and evaluating technical assistance activities. Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations, except individuals and foreign entities. The application deadline is July 1, 2024, and the expected award date is September 29, 2024. The estimated total program funding is $2 million, with a single award expected. The project will have a 60-month period of performance with five 12-month budget periods. The place of performance is not specified, but the center will serve CBCAP recipients nationwide.
