About this program
The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living funds outreach to eligible Medicare beneficiaries regarding benefits available under Medicare title XVIII, including the prescription drug benefit under Part D and the Medicare Savings Program, and coordination of information about Federal and state programs for older Americans, CFDA 93.518, with no recent grant opportunities posted.
The program has not issued new awards since September 30, 2010, making it effectively inactive for grant-making purposes over the past 16 years. The 216 total grant awards in the portfolio were all obligated in 2010, spanning a two-year performance period through September 2012.
The funded activities centered on three grant streams: Affordable Care Act MIPPA outreach through Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRC), and tribal organizations. Representative awards included $961,677 to support AAA outreach in Texas, $699,704 for AAA coordination in North Carolina, $466,490 for ADRC grants in Georgia, and $254,096 for ADRC grants in Arkansas. Tribal grants were substantially smaller, with most obligated at $1,000 each; several tribal awards carried zero obligation.
The award portfolio was dominated by Project Grants (208 of 216 awards, 96 percent), with a smaller share of Formula Grants (7 awards, 3 percent) and one Cooperative Agreement. Funding was concentrated within a single federal agency—the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living—accounting for both the 209 Project and Formula Grants obligating $25.9 million and the 7 additional awards obligating $1.5 million. Combined federal dollars obligated totaled $27.4 million.
Do not pursue this program. No funding has been disbursed in 16 years, and no current or recently posted grant opportunities are available.
