Strengthening Vaccine-Preventable Disease Prevention and Response
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking applicants for a $2 billion cooperative agreement over 5 years to strengthen vaccine-preventable disease prevention and response. This funding opportunity builds upon the Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Section 317 Programs, with a focus on seven priority strategies: strengthening program infrastructure, increasing vaccine access, improving vaccination equity, promoting vaccine confidence, enhancing data/evaluation, strengthening partner support, and enhancing response readiness. Eligible applicants include state/territorial health departments, local health agencies serving populations over 1.4 million, and U.S. territories/Freely Associated States. Recipients must implement core activities, rapid small-scale outbreak response ($250,000/year), and large-scale outbreak response ($3 million/year, approved but unfunded). Key requirements include maintaining immunization information systems, conducting provider site visits, implementing quality improvement programs, and supporting adult immunization activities. The funding opportunity will provide an average of $6.06 million per award, with a total of 66 awards expected. The project period is 5 years, with an expected start date of July 1, 2025 and an application due date of March 13, 2025. Activities will take place nationwide, as this cooperative agreement supports state, local, and territorial immunization programs.
