The University of Washington received a $249,884 National Leadership Grant for Museums (CFDA 45.312) from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The grant supports a 3-year project that will: 1) Develop a mock social media website and initial posts to help library staff run fact-checking exercises for information literacy instruction; 2) Co-design and implement teen programs and resources that provide an authentic environment for information literacy instruction in public libraries; and 3) Refine the materials with school librarians and disseminate the resources through a website and associated professional development. The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI), in partnership with the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI), received a $270,486 two-year Project Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the National Leadership Grants program (CFDA 45.312). The funding will support enhancements to Hyku, an open-source multi-tenant repository platform system suitable for access to diverse materials. This will build upon previous work to improve the national digital repository infrastructure. Specifically, PALNI and PALCI will increase Hyku's flexibility, accessibility, and usability. They will also develop an operational toolkit for consortially managed repository services agnostic to any specific technology. The toolkit will provide guidance and resources to support similar services in other consortia. The work directly addresses critical needs in the museum and library fields around strengthening services for the public articulated by stakeholders and consortia.
