The Colorado Department of Transportation received a $888,065 Formula Grant award from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to support the Minimum Penalties for Repeat Offenders for Driving While Intoxicated federal grant program. Under this program, states must enact and enforce repeat intoxicated driver laws establishing minimum specified penalties for repeat offenders to avoid the transfer of federal funds. The award, provided from October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2026, will support Colorado's efforts to implement alcohol-impaired driving countermeasures through enforcement of conforming laws and penalties for repeat drunk drivers.
