About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting bids on wooden sign posts with a proposal due date of June 21, 2011.
The procurement is for approximately 1,565 rectangular wooden sign posts in ten size variations ranging from 4"×4"×14' to 6"×6"×20', to be delivered to six regional MDOT sign shops and one paint warehouse across Maine (Scarborough, Augusta, Dixfield, Bangor, and Caribou). Material specification requires Eastern Hemlock No. 2 or better, or Southern Yellow Pine No. 2 or better, with ACQ treatment to 0.40-inch penetration and 0.60 PCF retention. Posts must be kiln or air dried before treatment, incised on all four sides, and planed on all four sides (D4S). Dimensional tolerances are ±1 inch in length and ±1/4 inch in width or thickness. Material must be free from loose knots, shake, holes, and heart rot.
Quotes must be submitted electronically and close at 2:00 p.m. local time on June 21, 2011. Bidders must submit separate unit prices for each item and confirm ability to accept a State of Maine procurement card as payment. Transportation charges must be prepaid by the contractor unless otherwise specified. The state is exempt from federal and Maine state sales and use taxes.
Award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder considering overall best value, with evaluation factors including quality, conformity to specifications, purpose of use, delivery date, and cost to the state. In the event of tied quotes, preference is given to in-state bidders or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine. The state reserves the right to reject any or all quotes, waive formalities and technicalities, increase or decrease quantities by up to 10% unless otherwise stated, and award contracts based on items or groups of items deemed in the best interest of the state.
