About this opportunity

The City of Newark, New Jersey is seeking bids for Invitation to Bid (ITB) #2023-06, which focuses on procuring wiping rags and related absorbent products for municipal use. The procurement encompasses 11 different product categories including white and colored rags of various materials and sizes, absorbent pads, socks, sweeps, booms, and pillows designed for oil and chemical applications. Electronic bids will be accepted exclusively through the City's e-Procurement Portal (ProcureNow) until 10:15 am on March 30, 2023, with bids to be publicly opened and read aloud at that time. The contract term will span two years, covering Year 1 and Year 2, with bidders required to provide comprehensive unit costs for each line item that include all associated expenses such as labor, materials, transportation, shipping, and handling. Evaluation criteria appear to emphasize pricing, product specifications, and compliance with municipal requirements, with the City reserving the right to reject bids, waive informalities, and potentially award contracts to multiple vendors based on line item commodities.

Bidders must meet several state and local compliance requirements, including submitting a New Jersey Business Registration Certificate and affirmative action compliance documentation. The procurement appears to have provisions supporting diversity and anti-discrimination objectives, though specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged businesses are not explicitly detailed in the available documentation. While specific budget ranges are not provided, the comprehensive nature of the bid suggests a potentially significant municipal procurement opportunity. The bid covers multiple product categories, indicating flexibility for vendors who can provide diverse absorbent and wiping products. Potential respondents must carefully review the detailed specifications in the Wiping_Rags.pdf document, ensuring full compliance with the City of Newark's technical requirements and municipal procurement guidelines.
