About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is pursuing a single-source procurement for the Wildwood Loop and Sensor Install project, specifically located in Leon County. The procurement involves the installation of new Kistler loops and sensors to be integrated into the existing Mettler-Toledo Weight-In-Motion system at the Wildwood Weigh Station. The project scope includes installing 12 Kistler sensors and 17 loops per direction of travel, with additional components such as mobilization, maintenance of traffic, project management, startup, training, and calibration. FDOT has determined that Mettler-Toledo, LLC is the only vendor capable of providing the final system integration while maintaining the existing system's warranty and service contract. Vendors interested in providing alternative solutions must submit their information by 5:00 PM EST on December 10, 2024, to the specified email address. The procurement follows the guidelines outlined in section 120.57(3) of Florida Statutes, which requires public notice and an opportunity for potential vendors to demonstrate their capability to provide the required commodities and services.
The procurement appears to be a non-restricted opportunity without specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises. The total estimated dollar value of the purchase is $432,034.00, with a contract term of 5 months. Mettler-Toledo, LLC is the known vendor and current incumbent for this project, with a specific focus on integrating new components into their existing Weight-In-Motion system. The project requires technical expertise in sensor and loop installation, traffic management, and specialized transportation infrastructure technology. The procurement process allows for potential alternative vendors to submit information demonstrating their capability to provide equivalent services, though FDOT has preliminarily determined that Mettler-Toledo is the sole source capable of meeting the project's technical requirements. The integration must ensure seamless compatibility with the existing technological infrastructure and maintain the current system's warranty and service agreements.
