About this opportunity
The Township of North Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey is soliciting sealed bids under IFB #BID26003 for the West Lawrence Pump Station Bank Stabilization Project, with bids due November 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. No set-asides are identified in this solicitation. Bids must be submitted online only through the township's procurement portal, and the bid opening occurs virtually via Zoom at the same date and time.
Scope covers embankment stabilization of eroded tributary banks adjacent to a critical township pumping station, using gabion baskets, gabion mattresses, loose stone riprap, and live staking. Additional work includes new chain link fencing, perimeter concrete flush curb, and pavement restoration beyond top of bank. The proposed edge of pavement will not extend beyond the existing edge of pavement, and the flush curb will maintain existing site drainage patterns. The contractor must comply with New Jersey prevailing wage requirements, antidiscrimination provisions, OSHA worker safety laws, and the Worker and Community Right to Know Act.
Bid security equals 10% of the total bid price, not to exceed $20,000, delivered as a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond, with a Certificate of Consent of Surety from a New Jersey-licensed bonding company. The successful bidder must furnish performance and payment bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract amount and a one-year maintenance bond upon project acceptance. Prices must be net and inclusive of packing, crating, transportation, and F.O.B. delivery. The township is exempt from sales tax. The contractor must maintain all documentation for five years and is subject to audit by the New Jersey Office of the State Comptroller.
Questions closed November 3, 2026 at 4:00 p.m., and award is anticipated November 23, 2026. The bid documents were prepared by James C. Watson, PE, of CME Associates and are available at www.northbrunswicknj.gov.
Opportunity text
The project generally consists of embankment stabilization improvements comprised of gabion baskets, gabion mattresses, loose stone riprap, and live staking. The improvements are intended to restabilize the eroded embankments, which are in close proximity to the pumping station. The tributary embankments have eroded to the extent that existing pavement and fencing have been damaged, and accordingly the project also proposes new chain link fencing, perimeter concrete flush curb, and pavement restoration beyond top of bank. It should be noted that the proposed edge of pavement will not extend beyond the existing edge of pavement, and the flush curb will maintain existing site drainage patterns. The pumping station is a critical facility for the Township, and accordingly the improvements are necessary scour countermeasures that are anticipated to repair existing damage within the site and mitigate future embankment erosion proximate to the site.
