About this opportunity
The Maine Department of Transportation is requesting bids for four vibratory tamping rammers, with bids due March 17, 2010. Equipment must be delivered to the MDOT Radio Shop within 30 days of award.
The specification requires a 3.0 HP Honda four-stroke gas engine rated at 3600 rpm, compaction plate of at least 9 inches by 13 inches, operating weight between 128 and 141 pounds, minimum compaction force of 3000 pounds, compaction depth of 20 inches, impact rate of 695 blows per minute, and travel speed of 55 feet per minute. Each unit must include two complete sets of operation and maintenance manuals and carry a minimum one-year warranty.
Bidders must submit manufacturer's brochures and specification sheets with their proposals. Vendors are required to certify that they maintain service facilities in Maine staffed with trained technicians and stocked with appropriate repair parts — a capability requirement that filters bidders to those with established Maine presence and support infrastructure.
MaineDOT will evaluate bids based on price, warranty coverage, manufacturer performance data, delivery schedule, parts availability, and other relevant factors. Any exceptions to stated specifications must be clearly identified on separate documentation; failure to list exceptions constitutes acceptance of all specifications as written.
