About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting bids on a utility body with integrated crane system (SPEC# 184-170) for installation on a 2012 Chevy Sierra 3500HD truck, with bids due June 26, 2012. Maine applies a tied-bid preference to in-state vendors or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine.

The scope calls for one galvanized-steel service body, 108 inches long with a 36-inch cabinet-height profile, featuring a 2,000-pound-capacity electric crane mounted on the left rear with manual boom extension from 4 to 7 feet. The body includes V-style compartments on curb and street sides with adjustable shelves, comprehensive weatherstripping, stainless-steel hardware, and exterior painting in GM Greystone Metallic. The crane system includes a 12-volt DC electric winch with master disconnect and overload protection. Additional components include FMVSS-compliant lighting, a Class IV trailer hitch rated for 5,000-pound weight capacity, backup alarm, 7-way RV-style trailer connector with integral electric brake controller, and mud flaps. All electrical connections must use heat shrink tubing and heavy-duty wire loom; Scotch-Lok connectors are prohibited. The manufacturer must provide a minimum 5-year rust-through warranty and complete automotive-type undercoating. Installation and delivery to the Augusta location are included in the bid price.

Award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering the best value, considering quality, conformity to specifications, delivery date, and overall economy. Cash discounts of 20 days or more will be factored into award; discounts under 20 days will not. The state reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10 percent. Electronic submission closes at 2:00 p.m. local time. Bidders must acknowledge their ability to accept Maine procurement cards by checking "YES" or "NO" on the payment method form and returning it with their bid.
