About this opportunity

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is requesting bids for parking deck elevator modernization work with revised opening at 11:00 a.m. on October 27, 2026, in the Magnolia Conference Room 100A at Giles Horney Building, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The base bid scope covers complete modernization of the Dogwood Deck Elevator and Business School Elevator 01 (West), with no new jack assemblies required. Alternate No. G-2 offers an option for complete modernization of Business School Elevator 02 (East) including new jack assembly replacement. Addendum No. 4, issued October 19, clarifies that AC-2S mechanical equipment, associated piping, condensate systems, controls, disconnects, and load-side wiring are assigned to Alternate G-2 rather than the base bid; the existing AC-2S unit remains operational under the base bid. Control scope has been simplified to local wall-mounted temperature and humidity controls only, eliminating Building Automation System (BAS) integration requirements. The machine room must maintain 75 degrees Fahrenheit and 50 percent relative humidity (adjustable) via packaged DX unit enabled through the manufacturer's approved control interface.

All contractors must acknowledge Addendum No. 4 in their bid form or proposal. The contract term spans project delivery and completion, with funding sourced through university capital improvement budgets for fiscal years 2025–2027. Site visits and a bidders' conference were conducted prior to the opening date. Addendums 01–03 preceded Addendum No. 4, which clarifies and modifies original contract documents dated August 14, 2026.
