About this opportunity

Utica Community Schools, through Construction Manager Barton Malow Builders and Architect/Engineer Integrated Design Solutions, is soliciting competitive bids for mechanical upgrades across ten school facilities in Michigan. The project encompasses mechanical system improvements at Duncan, Monfort, Morgan, Roberts, and Shelby elementary schools in the northern cluster, and Bemis, DeKeyser, Dresden, Graebner, Havel, and West Utica schools in the southern cluster under Bid Package #18-4-2022. Bids must be submitted electronically via BuildingConnected or by hand/mail delivery no later than 1:00 PM local standard time on October 20, 2021, with a public bid opening to be held at the Gibbing Administration Building in Sterling Heights, Michigan. An optional but strongly recommended pre-bid conference and site visit will take place on October 13, 2021 at 7:00 a.m. at Dresden Elementary. Bidders must prequalify in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders (Document 002113) and are required to provide bid security equal to 5% of the base bid from a surety authorized to conduct business in Michigan, along with Performance Bonds, Payment Bonds, and Certificates of Insurance upon award. Bidding documents are available for examination on or after September 29, 2021 through Barton Malow Builders' site office, BuildingConnected, and local plan rooms, with specifications based on the Construction Manager's project manual dated September 29, 2021 and design documents by Integrated Design Solutions dated May 12, 2021. Bidders with an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) greater than 1.0 are ineligible, and proposals cannot be withdrawn for 90 days following the submission deadline.

The procurement is not subject to prevailing wage requirements but is subject to Michigan state sales and use taxes, which must be included in all bid proposals. No specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises or minority-owned businesses are identified in the bid advertisement. The successful bidder will execute an AIA Document A132 Standard Form of Agreement with Utica Community Schools, with the Owner reserving full discretion to accept or reject any or all bids submitted. No incumbent vendors, current contractors, or specific budget range information is listed in the available procurement documents. This represents a competitively bid project open to qualified mechanical contractors meeting the established prequalification and bonding requirements.
