About this opportunity

The University of Texas at Austin's Cockrell School of Engineering is soliciting bids for a Leica TS-60 total station with precision metrology equipment and accessories under ITB 721-26091, with bids due June 30, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. CDT. Questions close June 17, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. CDT — a near-term constraint given the post date of June 16.

The scope includes a Leica TS-60 instrument at gold certification (0.6 mm distance and 0.5" angle precision), radio receiver, remote controller, survey software, batteries for instrument and controller, precision Leica circular retroreflectors, tribracks, and heavy-duty geodetic-grade tripods with extensions up to 10 feet. The equipment will conduct precision surveys of geodetic ground stations at McDonald Observatory to achieve 1-millimeter precision over kilometer-scale distances. Bids must include detailed pricing breakdowns for three primary line items: the TS-60, associated peripherals, and supporting surveying and metrology equipment.

Award will be made on best value criteria under Texas Education Code Section 51.9335, considering purchase price and extent to which goods meet institutional needs. Bidders must certify compliance with Texas Governor Executive Order GA-48 regarding foreign adversaries and conduct criminal background checks on assigned personnel. Delivery is desired on or before July 15, 2026. Bids must remain valid for 120 days following submittal. Payment terms are net 30 days with F.O.B. destination delivery; the University prefers the JP Morgan Chase Single Use Account Program. Electronic submission through the University Euna portal is required with a maximum file size of 1,000 MB. Bidders must provide company information including years in business, employee count, state of incorporation, and federal tax ID number. Subcontracting is not probable for this procurement. Other University of Texas System institutions may elect to use the resulting contract under group purchasing authority.
