About this opportunity
The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) is requesting bids for complete modernization of two hydraulic passenger elevators in Tonopah Residence Hall at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas under IFB 5589-HE, with bids due October 21, 2026, and a mandatory site walk on September 29, 2026 at 9:00 AM. This is a public works project subject to prevailing wage requirements under Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 338 and the Apprenticeship Utilization Act; bidders must qualify with the State Public Works Division and hold contractor licensing under Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 624.
The scope is turnkey modernization encompassing new microprocessor-based selective collective automatic operation controllers (non-proprietary diagnostic systems), new hydraulic power units, cab interior finishes with stainless steel fixtures, emergency communications systems compliant with ASME A17.1, and auxiliary trades including architectural, structural, fire alarm, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing modifications across elevator lobbies, the machine room, hoistways, elevator pits, and adjacent facilities. Bidders must submit pricing for a lump sum base bid plus four alternates: a grease trap interceptor, OEM controllers in lieu of non-OEM controllers, 12-month maintenance costs, and elevator cab finishes.
The estimated project cost is approximately $972,320. Substantial completion is required by August 20, 2027, with liquidated damages of $5,000 per day assessed for delays beyond that date. Upon award, the contractor must furnish 100% performance and payment bonds, proof of insurance per UNLV requirements, and a comprehensive one-year warranty with 12 months of full preventive maintenance service including 24/7 emergency callback service (two-hour response time, 30 minutes for entrapment). Five percent bid security is required. Questions are due October 7, 2026; addenda close October 14, 2026. The Architect/Engineer of Record is KME Architects (Eric Gross, 702-888-2088, eric@kmearchitects.com); the designated purchasing contact is Henry Enriquez (henry.enriquez@unlv.edu, 702-895-5902).
