About this opportunity

Berrien Springs Public Schools has issued an Invitation to Bid for the Sylvester Power Improvements project, a comprehensive electrical infrastructure project located in Berrien Springs, Michigan. The scope of work requires the selected electrical contractor to provide a power feed from the 480V Main Distribution Panel #2 at the south end of the facility, install conduit across the roof to the north end, and extend service underground to a 480V to 208V transformer, while also installing an exterior main switch disconnect to control backfeed to the Main Distribution Panel #1. The contractor must coordinate the disconnection of the existing overhead 208V service currently connected to MDP #1. Bids are due by 1:30 PM local time on April 23, 2019, at the district's Administrative Offices, where they will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bidders are strongly encouraged to conduct site visits prior to bid submission by contacting Ron Bartz, Maintenance Coordinator, at 269-930-0200, and technical questions should be directed to Doug Sayles, P.E., at 248-744-0360. Bid documents are available for viewing at multiple plan rooms beginning April 8, 2019, and may be obtained from CARMI Design Group for a $50.00 fee per set (limited to three sets) or electronically at no charge via email to Susan Weiss. Bidders must submit proposals in duplicate using the Bid Proposal Form included in the Project Manual and must include a five percent bid bond, with bids remaining irrevocable for thirty calendar days after the bid opening date.

The successful bidder will be required to provide a Performance Bond, Labor and Material Bonds, and current certificates of Liability and Worker's Compensation Insurance. All bidders must submit a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationships between the bidder and members of the school board or superintendent, and must certify compliance with Michigan's Iran Economic Sanctions Act. No pre-bid meeting will be held for this procurement. The contract documentation does not specify set-asides for disadvantaged enterprises, incumbent vendors, or particular organizational restrictions, nor does it identify an explicit budget range or award value. Berrien Springs Public Schools reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to accept any bid deemed most advantageous to the public interest.
