About this file
This is an Invitation to Bid issued by Berrien Springs Public Schools for electrical improvements at the Sylvester facility located in Berrien Springs, Michigan. The project involves providing a power feed from the 480V Main Distribution Panel #2 at the south end of the facility, running conduit across the roof to the north end, and extending underground to a 480V to 208V transformer. An exterior main switch disconnect will control the backfeed to the Main Distribution Panel #1, and the electrical contractor must coordinate the disconnection of the existing overhead 208V service currently connected to MDP #1. Bids will be received at the district's Administrative Offices until 1:30 PM local time on April 23, 2019, and will be publicly opened and read aloud at that time. Bidders are strongly encouraged to visit the site prior to submission and should contact Ron Bartz, Maintenance Coordinator, at 269-930-0200 to arrange site visits. Technical questions should be directed to Doug Sayles, P.E., at 248-744-0360. No pre-bid meeting will be held. Bid documents are available for viewing at multiple plan rooms beginning April 8, 2019, and may be obtained from CARMI Design Group for a $50.00 fee per set, with a limit of three sets, or electronically at no charge via email to Susan Weiss.
Bidders must submit bids in duplicate on the Bid Proposal Form included in the Project Manual and must include a five percent bid bond. The successful bidder will be required to provide a Performance Bond, Labor and Material Bonds, and certificates of Liability and Worker's Compensation Insurance. Bids must be accompanied by a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationships between the bidder and members of the school board or superintendent. Bidders must also certify compliance with Michigan's Iran Economic Sanctions Act. Bids may not be withdrawn for thirty calendar days after the bid opening date. Berrien Springs Public Schools reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to accept any bid deemed most advantageous to the public interest.
