About this opportunity
The Summit County School District is seeking qualified contractors to provide comprehensive landscaping services for nine school properties through a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued on April 9, 2025, with responses due by April 25, 2025. The procurement encompasses three distinct service scopes: landscaping, mowing, and irrigation operation and maintenance, which bidders can propose individually or in combination. Respondents must demonstrate capability to service all district properties, which include elementary, middle, and high schools totaling approximately 20-25 acres of athletic and irrigated turf. The evaluation criteria will prioritize cost (50 points), project approach (25 points), and experience/qualifications (25 points), with additional consideration for references, performance history, and expertise in Alpine environment maintenance. The contract will run through December 31, 2025, with potential for up to three separate contract awards based on submitted proposals. Deliverables include regular landscape maintenance activities such as mowing, edging, weeding, fertilizing, pruning, and comprehensive irrigation system operations and maintenance.
The RFP does not explicitly specify set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Pricing structures offer flexibility, allowing bidders to propose services using either district-owned equipment or contractor-provided equipment. Historically, the district has utilized lump-sum payments for landscape and mowing services, with monthly installments and separate fixed costs for irrigation start-up and shut-down, supplemented by hourly maintenance rates. Additional services like mulching, plow/vole damage repair, and pressure washing will be billed at time and materials rates. While specific budget ranges are not detailed in the provided documentation, the comprehensive nature of the services suggests a substantial annual contract value. The solicitation indicates the district is seeking a responsive and experienced contractor with demonstrated expertise in managing landscape and irrigation maintenance across multiple school sites in a potentially challenging Alpine environment.
