About this opportunity

The Jordan School District Purchasing Department is pursuing a sole source procurement for a Series-Parallel Circuit Trainer Kit from Daktic under Section 63G-6a-802 of the Utah Procurement Code. This procurement allows the district to award a contract without engaging in standard competitive bidding processes based on specific legal provisions, including having only one available source for the item, receiving a donation covering full costs, or requiring the item for trial use or testing. The procurement notice was posted on January 15, 2026, with a public comment deadline of January 23, 2026. Interested parties who wish to challenge the sole source determination must submit their company name and detailed documentation demonstrating alternative sources through the Bonfire platform. The procurement specifically involves acquiring a Series-Parallel Circuit Trainer Kit, though the exact technical specifications and precise use within the school district's educational programming are not fully detailed in the available documentation.

The sole source procurement does not explicitly indicate any set-aside designations or restrictions on responding organizations. No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in the procurement notice. The procurement appears to be structured as a direct acquisition with potential unique technological or educational requirements that justify the sole source approach. Potential challengers must provide substantive evidence of alternative sources or competing products to contest the sole source determination during the public notice period. The procurement process emphasizes transparency, allowing interested parties an opportunity to provide input or challenge the district's procurement methodology. No incumbent vendors or existing infrastructure integration requirements are explicitly mentioned in the procurement documentation.

Opportunity text

NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A CONTRACT WITHOUT ENGAGING IN A STANDARD PROCUREMENT PROCESS Section 63G-6a-802 of the Utah Procurement Code allows the Jordan School District Purchasing Department to award a contract for a procurement item without engaging in a competitive process if a written determination is made that: (a) there is only one available source for the item; (b) the award to a specific supplier, service provider, or contractor is a condition attached to a donation that covers the full cost of the item, service, or construction; or (c) the item is required for trial use or testing to evaluate its benefit to the procurement unit. The Jordan School District Purchasing Department has developed this sole source request form to document the determination that a sole source contract should be awarded to the specified vendor. This form is intended solely for comments on the proposed sole source procurement. It is not a solicitation for quotes, bids, or proposals. To contest this sole source request before the public notice period closes, a person must submit the following on the Bonfire platform: (a) their company name and (b) a detailed explanation of the challenge, including documentation that demonstrates the existence of other competing sources for the procurement item. If you agree that this proposed purchase is a valid sole source, no action is required.
