About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting bids for 4/4 Premium Grade White Pine Lumber with quotes due by 2:00 p.m. local time on July 23, 2013. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering best value, with tie bids resolved in favor of in-state bidders or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine.

The scope covers specialty white pine lumber in two product lines: PWP8 (4" x 8" width) and PWP10 (4" x 10" width), measured in board feet. Material specifications require 8–10% moisture content, planed on three sides, in widths of 6" to 10" and lengths of 6' to 10', with each lift wrapped for protection.

The estimated annual contract value is approximately $20,000, though actual contract value will reflect all quantities ordered by state agencies during the contract term. The contract period runs one year from approximately July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014, with the State reserving the right to renew for two additional one-year periods with contractor consent. All pricing must remain firm for the duration of the contract on an F.O.B. Destination basis with all transportation charges included. Price increases are permitted only based on general industry changes documented by revised manufacturer price lists or notices, or due to changes in State or Federal law, subject to State rejection if deemed excessive.

Bidders must submit separate unit prices for each item delivered to destination with all trade and quantity discounts included; cash discounts for payment at 20 days or more are considered in determining the low bidder. Bids are accepted on a per-item or group basis at the State's discretion. Products quoted using trade names are subject to "or approved equal" standards. Vendors must provide current material safety data sheets for any hazardous chemicals and accept the State Procurement Card as payment with no surcharges. The State is exempt from Federal and Maine State Sales and Use taxes. All quotes must be submitted electronically; questions must be submitted through the procurement portal. Todd Cummings, Buyer II, State of Maine Division of Purchases, is the sole point of contact.
