About this opportunity
The State of Maine, Division of Purchases, is requesting bids on specialty lumber with a due date of April 18, 2008. A local-preference tiebreaker applies — in case of equal bids, the State favors in-state bidders or those offering products manufactured in Maine.
The scope covers three lumber types: 4/4 Ash, 8/4 Ash, and 4/4 Birch, all graded #1 Common or Better, kiln-dried to 6–8% moisture content, with minimum 4-inch width and board lengths of 6 to 10 feet. All lumber must be delivered rough (unplaned), metal-banded and wrapped for protection. Unit of measure is board feet.
The estimated annual contract value is approximately $45,000, though actual volume may be higher or lower based on state agency orders. The contract term is one year from April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2009, with the State holding the right to renew for two additional one-year periods with contractor consent. Pricing must remain firm for the full contract duration and include transportation charges on an F.O.B. Destination basis. The State requires acceptance of the State Procurement Card as payment with no surcharges permitted.
Bids must be submitted in sealed form or electronically to the Division of Purchases, Room 119, 9 State House Station, State Office Building, Augusta, Maine, prior to the closing date and time. Award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder, with evaluation criteria including quality, conformance to specifications, delivery date, and ultimate cost to the State. Bidders must specify delivery times and procedures, number of delivery days from order receipt, and terms and cash discounts. Discounts under 20 days are not considered in contract award. Contractors must accept contract extension to Maine political subdivisions and school districts as a condition of award consideration. The State reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10 percent. Contact: Phillip Bort, Division of Purchases.
