About this opportunity

Sacramento County is requesting sealed bids for tree removal on Cottonwood Lane and Stevenson Avenue to support sidewalk gap closure and infrastructure improvements under Contract 41021, with bids due October 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. via electronic portal. A valid California contractor's license (classification C-49 or C-61/D-49) is required.

The scope includes furnishing labor, materials, equipment, and traffic control for removal of trees with stumps remaining two feet above grade. All removals must occur prior to January 31 to avoid nesting season; removals during February 1 onward require engineer approval and survey confirming no nesting birds are present. Work must be completed within twenty working days of contract execution. Traffic control must maintain at least one lane in each direction on both streets. Work adjacent to Florin High School is restricted to 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. on regular days and 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. Contractors are responsible for all materials sampling, testing, quality control, and disposal of excess materials and debris outside the right-of-way.

The estimated construction cost is $110,000. This is a maintenance project under California Labor Code section 1771.5, requiring prevailing wage compliance. Contractors and subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations.

Insurance requirements include General Liability ($2 million per occurrence / $4 million aggregate), Automobile Liability ($2 million combined single limit), and Contractor's Pollution Liability ($1 million per occurrence / $1 million aggregate). Bid guarantees must be at least 10% of the aggregate bid amount. Payment and Performance Bonds are each required for not less than 100% of the contract price. Liquidated damages of $2,800 per calendar day apply for failure to meet the completion deadline.

Pre-bid questions are due October 15, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. No pre-bid meeting is scheduled. The apparent low bidder must provide Certificates of Reported Compliance for the Advanced Clean Fleets regulation by 4:00 p.m. on the Monday following bid opening or document applicable exemptions. Award is made to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder.
