7-1.01 ORDER OF WORK

When required by these Special Provisions or Plans, the Contractor shall follow the sequence of operations as set forth therein.

Liquidated damages, as set forth elsewhere in these special provisions, shall be assessed if the working days are exceeded. No work may take place prior to receipt of the executed Contract and review of the prescribed bonds and insurance.

Full compensation for Order of Work, as specified herein, shall be considered as included in the prices paid for the various items of work involved and no additional compensation will be allowed therefor.

7-8.01 ALLOWABLE TIMES AND HOURS OF WORK

No lane or road closures will be permitted outside of the allowable hours of work. All traffic lanes shall be open, each day, by the end of shift.

Typically, construction nearby a school zone can significantly affect traffic flow if school is in session.

Contractor shall contact the school affected by construction to determine if school is in session and if there

- 6 -are any changes in their daily schedule. If school is in session, construction activities may begin no sooner than 30 minutes after the morning start bell, and all activities must be completed a minimum of 30 minutes before the mid-afternoon release bell.

Typically, school begins at Florin High School at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m., therefore work hours would be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesdays at Florin High School are shorter days with school beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. Therefore, on Wednesdays, work hours would be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Florin High School’s winter recess is December 21, 2026 through January 4, 2027.

7-8.02 OFF-PERIOD WORK

Under no circumstances shall any night time work be performed prior to and without the written permission of the Engineer. In the event of permitted night work, the Contractor shall maintain a minimum of one ten-foot (10’) minimum clear lane(s) in each direction between the hours of 7pm and 6am.

Season,” of the Standard Construction Specifications is hereby revised to the following:

Except as provided in the Special Provisions or approved by the Agency, construction will be suspended, and no activities that interfere with public traffic can be conducted on designated streets during the holiday season (defined as the 4-day Thanksgiving weekend and December 18 through the January 1 holiday, also referred to as the “Holiday Moratorium”).

7-12 DELAYS

Contractor’s attention is directed to Section 7-12.02, “Unavoidable Delays,” of the Standard Construction

Specifications.

No extension of time will be granted for a delay caused by a shortage of materials unless the Contractor furnishes to the Engineer documentary proof that he has made every effort to obtain such materials from all known sources, within reasonable reach of the work in a diligent and timely manner. The documentary proof shall indicate that the inability to obtain such materials, when originally planned, did in fact cause a delay in final completion of the entire work which could not be compensated for by revising the sequence of the Contractor's operations. The term "Shortage of Materials" as used in this section, shall not apply to materials, articles, parts, or equipment which are processed, made, constructed, fabricated, or manufactured to meet the specific requirements of the contract. Only the physical shortage of material will be considered under these provisions as a cause for extension of time. Delays in obtaining materials due to priority in filling orders will not constitute a shortage of materials.

No extension of time will be allowed for delay in delivery of traffic signal poles, luminaires, or traffic signal equipment.

7-15 TIME OF COMPLETION

As set forth in Section 7-15, "Time of Completion", of the Standard Construction Specifications, the time for completion of this contract shall be Twenty (20) working days.

- 7 -

SECTION 8 – MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

Section 10-13, “Protection of Existing Trees,” of the Standard Construction Specifications is hereby replaced with the following:
