About this opportunity
The Lakeview School District in Battle Creek, Michigan is issuing a Request for Proposal for the replacement and installation of a water softener system at Lakeview High School. The procurement solicits two separate bids: one for supply of a new softener system and one for mechanical installation services, with contractors able to bid on either or both components. The softener system must match the capacity of the existing Magnum CV and Magnum IT Series units and be manufactured by Pentair, Marlo, Culligan, Peerless, or an approved equivalent. The mechanical installation scope encompasses demolition of the existing system, installation of the new equipment, modifications to domestic water systems, piping insulation, chlorination and bacteriological testing, lead testing, surface protection, flushing and pressure testing, permitting, and owner training. All work must comply with applicable state and local codes, including the Federal Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act (Public Law 111-380), and a minimum one-year warranty against defects for both materials and installation is required. Sealed proposals must be submitted to Laura McFadden, Director of Finance, at 15 Arbor Street, Battle Creek, Michigan 49015, no later than 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020, with public opening of proposals at the same time and location. Interested contractors may schedule onsite inspections by contacting Frank Schumacher, Director of Operations, at 260-565-3996.
Bid security is required in the form of a certified check equal to 5% of the bid amount for proposals under $50,000, or bonding for proposals exceeding $50,000. All bids must include a sworn and notarized disclosure statement regarding any familial relationships with school board members or district officials, as well as an Iran Economic Sanctions Act Certification. The district is not obligated to award based on low bid alone and reserves the right to reject any or all proposals. Board approval is required for bids exceeding the state threshold. Payment will be withheld until the district is satisfied with the work, and the work commencement date will be mutually agreed upon by the Director of Operations and the selected contractor. The RFP does not specify particular set-asides for disadvantaged enterprises, incumbent vendors, or budget ranges for the project.
